Why can't they simply restore it to open space? Do we really need a suburban park?

@FFS

I shall try and imagine the creation of a subpuban park.

It is hard to think of anything quite as negative as the sort of person who posts a snide remark, but has not got the guts to put their name to it.

Open space in general is a positive thing. The open space in question has been used by the children and young people (and the young at heart) of Deptford for many years to kick a ball around, run around, sit around etc etc. All without disturbing other people.

If you seriously need somebody to 'design' an open space before you can enjoy it then there is something wrong with you
